The China section of the torch relay for the Far East and South Pacific Games for the Disabled (FESPIC Games) was launched in Beijing October 20,2006.

The organizers are taking the opportunity to stage a campaign for the disabled persons in China. During a two-week and 6,000km journey, a fleet of journalists' vehicles will travel along the torch relay route to do on-site news coverage about the disabled athletes and the training facilities while sending out donations to the disabled persons.

The campaign amid the preparations for the Beijing Olympic Games and ahead of the FESPIC Games is aimed at promoting sports for the disabled, calling for support to the disabled and encouraging the disabled to make self-reliant efforts and struggle to deliver best performances at the Games.

The 9th FESPIC Games will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 25 Nov. to 1 Dec. 2006. China is expected to field over 200 athletes.
