Xi calls for building a strong army

BEIJING -- China's military should take solid steps toward a strong army as socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, said Xi Jinping, general secretary of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Xi made the remarks when meeting military officers in Beijing Thursday.
