Judicial officials from Uzbekistan and China will deepen exchanges by increasing cooperation on judge training and improving communication on building smart courts, the head of Uzbekistan's highest court said.

Kozimdjan Kamilov, chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, made the remark during the 13th conference of supreme courts presidents of Shanghai Cooperation Organization members in Beijing on Friday.

"We visited the Supreme People's Court of China on Thursday, and the application of technologies in the court left a great impression on me," Kamilov said.

He said Uzbekistan has set up a judicial database and drawn up a three-year plan for building technology friendly courts, "so we hope to increase cooperation on smart-court establishment between us and China".

Uzbekistan is also interested in judge training, he said, suggesting the two supreme courts improve communication on designing legal classes for judges from both nations.

President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the conference on Friday, in which he said he expected deepened judicial cooperation within the framework of the SCO to fight crime and resolve disputes more effectively.

Xi said he hoped all sides will create a sound legal environment to facilitate construction of Belt and Road Initiative projects and promote regional development.

SCO members - China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan - reached agreement on deepening judicial cooperation on Friday, including sharing experiences on the application of technology in courts.
