A World War II veteran has completed his first parachute jump in 74 years to fundraise for The Salvation Army's Anti Trafficking and Modern Slavery work, since he parachuted into Normandy during the D-Day landings.

Harry Read, 94, jumped 10,000ft from the sky at the Old Sarum Airfield in Salisbury on Sept 14, 2018.

Signalman Harry Read was just 20 when he parachuted into the French region on June 6, 1944, to help clear a route for British troops to liberate the nation from the Nazis.

After injuring his leg during the war, Read was told he must leave the parachute regiment and was unable to carry on jumping, despite his love for it.
