SKY Media Network now runs four radio stations and a TV channel, including cooperation with two Chinese state media outlets - China Radio International and the English Channel of China Global Television Network, covering news about politics, Chinese culture as well as infrastructure construction under the framework of the BRI.

But Hettiarachchi pointed out that there is a lot of room to grow in terms of cooperation among Sri Lankan and Chinese media since content about China is still limited in Sri Lanka.

"If you watch TV in Sri Lanka, you can see a lot of Indian and American content here," he explained. "I believe there is a lot that can be done in the area. I'm sure there are a lot of Chinese movies and dramas which can be brought to Sri Lanka."
