Ministry: Chinese imports to reach $24t in next 15 years

China will import $24 trillion of goods in the next 15 years, said the Ministry of Commerce on Saturday at a press conference for the inaugural China International Import Expo.
As the first-ever expo focused on import, the CIIE is China's solution and contribution to the global economy, which is looking for new growth engines, said Wang Bingnan, vice-minister of Commerce.
The six-day event, which will kick off on Monday, is expected to not only help China adjust its industry structures and upgrade to meet the growing needs of its people, but also to promote economic globalization and global cooperation.
"As China celebrates its four decades of opening-up and reform, the country would open its door wider and provide more opportunities to the world to share the dividend of reform and opening-up," said Wang.
