Zhejiang get revenge on Shanxi, Guangdong remain unbeaten
BEIJING - Marcus Denmon had a horrible 59 points to help Zhejiang take down Shanxi 123-120, putting an end to their three-game losing streak in the 11th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Wednesday.
And it was also a sweet revenge for Zhejiang who lost to Shanxi by one point last Tuesday. Both sides tied with four wins against six losses prior to the match.
Visiting Shanxi started the game 10-4 with 3-pointers from Xing Zhiqiang, but the hosts still led the first quarter 30-23 after Wu Qian orchestrated their 10-0 run midway.
Trapped by foul troubles, visiting coach Wang Fei rested Li Jingyu on the bench for the whole third quarter where Ge Zhaobao and Liu Guancen helped Shanxi to erase the deficit and even go ahead by one point into the last quarter.
Denmon made his clutch jumpers to enable the hosts lead 117-116 with only one minute left, then dished out his assist to Lai Junhao who hit the 3-pointer to kill the game.
In Dongguan, powerhouse Guangdong defeated Tianjin 118-103 at home as Yi Jianlian returned from a 12-day injury layoff, and scored a game-high 42 points including seven dunks. Guangdong remain the only unbeaten team with a 11-game winning streak.
Elsewhere, Qingdao won their road match over Sichuan 98-91.
