Canada, Germany crowned at 2018 Qinghai Int'l Curling Elite
XINING, China - Canada's men's curling team edged the Czech Republic 5-4 with a winning point in the final end here on Wednesday to win the 2018 Qinghai International Curling Elite.
The women's final saw Germany outclass Russia 6-3 to claim the gold.
Canada and the Czech Republic traded blows in a thrilling final, with the scores tied at 4-4 going into the final end. Throwing second, Canada took the advantage to score the decisive winning point.
In the women's final, Germany got a perfect start against Russia as they scored two points in the first end to take a lead they were not to lose for the rest of the game.
In the third-place matches, Scotland beat Russia 5-4 to win the men's bronze, while Canada defeated Switzerland 6-4 for the women's third place. The 2018 Qinghai International Curling Elite was held at the Chinese Duoba National Plateau Sports Training Base, and featured 18 teams from 10 countries and regions competing over the past week.
