UK's May looks to rivals for Brexit plan B

After the divorce deal Theresa May's government struck with the EU was rejected by lawmakers, the British prime minister has until Jan 21 to come back to Parliament with a plan B before lawmakers debate and vote on it on Jan 29.

May confirmed in Parliament she would adhere to this. Amid the confusion, there appear to be multiple potential outcomes, some of which could occur simultaneously.

A Brexit with no deal is an increasingly likely possibility.

A fresh negotiation between the EU and UK is still possible. So is an extension of Article 50, which is the legal means by which a country leaves the union.

The country could also hold a national election or another referendum, as the June 2016 one was officially a non-binding advisory poll.
