Chinese trendy tea drink brand HeyTea recorded positive growth in 2018, showing a greater interest in further tapping overseas markets.

Featuring fresh-cut fruit, sweet cheese top and freshly brew tea, HeyTea has become a popular tea brand among the country's young consumers. In its Beijing shop in Sanlitun, the fashion and hip downtown area, it is not hard to find people queueing for a cup of HeyTea.

According to HeyTea's data, the six-year-old brand has doubled the number of its shops—from tea vendors and tea houses—from 2017, reaching 163 in total.

It took HeyTea one year to aggressively expand from the Pearl River Delta to the first- and second-tier cities nationwide, including Chongqing, Ningbo, Tianjin and Chengdu. Now HeyTea is eyeing a bigger market abroad, starting from Singapore.

Late last year HeyTea opened its first tea bar in Singapore in Ion Orchard shopping mall. The bar reported a daily sale of 2,000 cups.

The company said in 2019 it will continue to expand overseas to promote the Chinese tea culture in a ready-to-drink mode.
