Benitez considering CSL move: reports
BEIJING - Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is reportedly considering a multi-million dollar offer to become the next manager of Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang.
The Times newspaper reported Tuesday that Benitez had been offered a salary worth 15 million dollars per year to coach Yifang, who currently sit 11th in the 16-team CSL.
Formerly of Inter Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid, Benitez has been in charge of Newcastle since 2016 and is out of contract this summer, having won much praise for his work re-establishing the Magpies in the Premier League on a limited budget.
The club are keen for him to sign a new deal, but the 59-year-old is said to have grown frustrated at the club's restrictive transfer policy, and the lure of a multi-million dollar salary in China may prove too tempting to resist.
