The main paintings on the two commemorative envelopes symbolize the achievements of cultural exchanges between China and these two Latin American countries.

The painting Scales of Dragon on the China-Uruguay commemorative envelope, featuring a rising dragon in a bagua pattern (the eight diagrams in Taoism) with exotic elements, was jointly created by Chinese artist Zhu Shouzhen and Uruguayan artist Gustavo Fernandez.

The one on the China-Cuba commemorative envelope was a co-creation of Chinese artist Wu Xiaolin and Cuban artist Li Dominguez Fong. The work, titled Red Mecca, features the Jinggang Mountains and the Sierra Maestra with azalea and pansy flowers in a riot of colors, symbolizing the two nations’ revolutions and struggles.
