China's technology companies Huawei, iFlytek, Watrix AI and Alibaba won Super AI Leader awards at the opening ceremony of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai on Aug 29.

Chinese telecom giant Huawei won the Superior Award for its Kirin chip, and iFlytek, which manufactures voice recognition devices, grabbed the Applicative Award for its iFlytek interpreting system.

Chinese computer vision startup Watrix AI, specializing in gait recognition, won the Innovative Award, while the Leading Award went to technology giant Alibaba.

Dubbed the Nobel Prize in the AI industry, the Super AI Leader award represents not only the topmost honor at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference but also the highest official award in the AI industry in China.

The 2019 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, held in Shanghai from Aug 29 to 31, has attracted over 500 international and domestic industrial leaders, including Alibaba founder Jack Ma and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
