Xi: China ready to strengthen ties with Micronesia
President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday that China is ready to strengthen ties with Micronesia to deliver more benefits to the people of the two countries.
Xi made the remark when exchanging congratulations with President of the Federated States of Micronesia David W. Panuelo on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Xi said China and Micronesia have maintained sound ties for relations 30 years ago with frequent high-level exchanges, fruitful pragmatic cooperation and increased cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
Xi said he is willing to work with Panuelo to enhance mutual trust, intensify pragmatic cooperation and friendly exchanges and move the strategic partnership between the two countries to a new level.
Panuelo said Micronesia-China relations are based on the five principles of peaceful coexistence.
Since they established diplomatic ties, the two countries have made great headway in their relations, Panuelo said, adding his country abides by the one-China policy and supports the Belt and Road Initiative.
