Nordic Film Festival

The 2019 edition of the Nordic Film Festival showcases 15 outstandingly influential movies from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. They run the gamut from The Phantom Carriage (1921), a masterpiece of silent film by Swedish director Victor Sj?str?m, to Carl Theodor Dreyer's Day of Wrath (1943), and from Ingmar Bergman's Summer with Monika (1953) to Andrei Tarkovsky's final film The Sacrifice (1986), shot in Sweden after his exile from Russia. Modern-day movies in the line-up include Lars von Trier's Melancholia (2005), Niels Arden Oplev's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009) and Icelandic director Grímur Hákonarson's Rams (2015), winner of Un Certain Regard at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
