To security officials:

Xi urged representatives of Macao's security forces to resolutely prevent and crack down on any behavior that endangers national sovereignty or challenges the authority of the central government and the Basic Law.

He also instructed them to strike against activities that use Macao for infiltration or sabotage against the Chinese mainland.

Xi called it a remarkable achievement that Macao quickly restored law and order after its return to the motherland and that now it is one of the world's safest cities. He highly praised and credited the work of security forces.

Xi said the security forces must strictly enforce the law. When any person or organization undermines the rule of law or damages order, no matter their excuse, the security forces should respond effectively in a firm and professional way, despite outside complexity and pressure, he said.

The president said he hopes the security forces will keep in mind their duty and mission, be loyal to the country, protect Macao and resolutely defend the practice of the "one country, two systems" principle in Macao.
