More than 80 pieces of medical equipment were transported by a truck from the Ruijin Hospital Affiliated with the Shanghai Jiao Tong University's School of Medicine to Hubei province's Wuhan city, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak, on Tuesday.
Weighing 1.5 metric tons, the medical devices, which would be used in ambulances, were scheduled to arrive in Wuhan within 12 hours, the hospital said.
The Red Cross Society of China had initially dispatched two helicopters to transport the medical supplies, but the flights were canceled because of unfavorable weather conditions.
