The search volume for education related content has surged 86 percent year-on-year in the past 30 days, with more users searching for content ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade and foreign languages studies, according to the big data released by internet search giant Baidu Inc.

Baidu said more than 350 million people have searched content and information related to education sector during the past 30 days, and the online education has grown significantly, with search popularity up 1,891 percent month-on-month.

Users in Shandong, Henan and Hebei provinces are paying higher attention to the K12 sector, while residents from coastal provinces and cities have greater demands for foreign languages.

The outbreak of novel coronavirus has spurred netizen's interests for medical sciences, artificial intelligence and computer science, with the search volume for medical colleges ranking skyrocketing 200 percent year-on-year.

Moreover, online education is gaining traction among parents and children, especially in second- and fourth-tier cities, and most of the newly added users come from small- and medium-sized cities across the nation.
