Chongqing in Southwest China, is the only inland municipality in the country. It has the responsibility to drive the opening-up in the underdeveloped western part of the country.
In 2015, Chongqing was picked as the operation center of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, a government-to-government project.
Singapore is now one of Chongqing's top foreign investors. Companies from Singapore have invested $9 billion in more than 260 projects in the city, including the finance, logistics, education and energy sectors.
