Hosted by the chairwoman and president Dong Mingzhu, home appliances maker Gree Electric Appliances announced its total sales reached 6.54 billion yuan ($918 million) on Monday's livestream, according to the company's official Sina Weibo account on Tuesday.

Different from Dong's previous online marketing, some 30,000 brick-and-mortar stores of Gree participated in the livestreaming this time.

Offline stores were said to receive subsidies varying from 50 yuan to 100 yuan for each air conditioner when buying from Monday's livestream, according to home appliance information website Jia Dian Quan.

Gree will turn offline stores into places for leisure, communication, and experience, while consumers can place orders online, making the best use of the commodity supply, according to Dong Mingzhu, as reported by The Paper on Monday.

"Our 30,000 offline stores can become 30,000 warehouses, (therefore) opening an era of new retail," Dong said. The entrepreneur said she would also launch the "Dong Mingzhu livestreaming room" to show the company's manufacturing know-how, The Paper reported.
