iPhone versus WeChat: Which one would you choose?

Betty_town (UK)

I am a foreigner working in China. Instead of relying on our usual Apple iMessage or Facebook Messenger to chat, I moved to WeChat in China. I like the convenience of WeChat's various life services, but that hasn't stopped me from using my iPhone.

My connections with my family and friends living in the UK will not be affected by the disappearance of WeChat. Although China has already blocked apps that our foreigners rely on, such as Facebook's Messenger, Instagram and Snapchat, I find that we can access those apps by going through a virtual private network, or VPN. In addition, I don't think Apple's business with WeChat in China will be affected, as Trump has not explicitly banned Apple's WeChat business globally. I hope so.
