Shandong Luneng smash Wuhan Zall in CFA Cup semifinal
SUZHOU, China - Shandong Luneng have one foot in the Chinese FA Cup final, after a hat-trick from Brazilian striker Roger Guedes helped them rout Wuhan Zall 5-0 in the semifinal first leg here on Sunday.
Shandong's Brazilian midfielder Moises opened the scoring in the fifth minute, heading home from Wang Tong's cross. Nine minutes later, Guedes made it two to put the Jinan outfit firmly in control.
Guedes added his second in the 27th minute to make it 3-0. Wuhan's Dong Chunyu thought he had reduced the arrears in the 42nd minute but his effort was ruled out for offside.
In the second half, Guedes converted a penalty to complete his hat-trick and further extend Shandong's lead, with former Manchester United player Marouane Fellaini completing the scoring late on.
The two teams will meet again for the second leg on December 13.
