Zhongshan county in Hezhou, South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, has enhanced farming productivity by introducing training and increasing subsidies, as part of its efforts to alleviate poverty.

To improve local farmers' skills in developing special industries, the county organized a series of training sessions for farmers, members of local cooperatives and poor households.

From January to October this year, Zhongshan county held 68 training sessions on industrial poverty taught by 11 lecturers, involving 2,150 poor households from 46 poor villages.

In addition, Zhongshan county has introduced an array of subsidies to encourage local residents, especially the poor, to develop special industries.

The county's awards and subsidies mainly cover high-quality rice cultivation, tangerines, sweet potatoes and other vegetables.

So far, Zhongshan county has issued subsidies of more than 46.65 million yuan ($7.13 million), benefiting 20,039 households.
