Part of the blame must go to the workers who choose to work themselves to death to earn that extra amount of money to lead a grand life of expensive house and car. They have the choice of working less hard for lesser pay and still have a decent life, but that obviously is not good enough for them, especially when they see their neighbors and friends doing better than them; they want to keep up with the Joneses, and that is the price they pay.
