As a tribute to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of Communist Party of China, the 35-episode television series Wang Jinxi the 'Iron Man' began production on April 25.

Born in a poor peasant family in Gansu province in 1923, Wang became a national role model for his dedication to the construction of Daqing Oilfield in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province.

Encouraged by his unyielding spirit to conquer extreme fatigue and physical limits, which earned him the nickname of "Iron Man", Wang-led team set a series of records in the oilfield, including spending 124 hours to get to the bottom of an oil well as deep as 1,200 meters.

Unfortunately, the years-long of demanding work damaged his health. Wang died at 47 in 1970 due to stomach cancer.

Backed by the local government of Wang's hometown in Yumen, Gansu province, the TV series will chronicle the life of Wang, showcasing his noble spirit and selfless devotion to boost New China's early industrial development.
