Logistics activities remain buoyant
Logistics activities continued to pick up in April in China, according to the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing. The logistics performance index, which tracks business volumes, new orders, employment, inventory turnover and equipment utility rates in the sector, came in at 57.3 percent last month, up 2.4 percentage points from March. The subindex for equipment utility rates rose by 1.8 percentage points from March to 55 percent in April. A reading above 50 percent indicates expansion, while a reading below 50 reflects contraction.
Timber imports from Germany increase
China remained the biggest sales market for raw timber from Germany in 2020 as around half, or 6.4 million cubic meters, of the latter's total timber exports went to China, the Federal Statistical Office said. Germany's raw timber exports to China have increased significantly since 2015 when the share was only around 10 percent, according to Destatis.
