Container throughput rises at Tianjin Port
Setting a new monthly record, the container throughput of Tianjin Port, a major coastal port in Tianjin Municipality, exceeded 2 million twenty-foot equivalent units, or TEUs, in May, up over 20 percent year-on-year, indicating a more dynamic economy in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, said Tianjin Port (Group) Co Ltd. The company attributed the growth to its cooperation with major ports across the country and efforts to maintain smooth operations of the logistics chain. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic-induced impacts, Tianjin Port handled 18.35 million TEUs last year, up 6.1 percent from a year ago, and was ranked among the Top 10 in the world.
