I joined the Party when I studied at Tsinghua University in the mid-1960s. I remember clearly that I was inspired the first day I went to the university by seeing a slogan that said we were expected to become "Red engineers". Over the 55 years since I joined the Party, I've witnessed tremendous changes that have taken place in this nation. The changes were especially remarkable after the beginning of reform and opening-up. Now we have world-class scientific hardware that can compare with any top institutes in developed countries. I hope that young scientists and Party members can continue working hard to make our country a top power in science and technology.
