UN: Pandemic pushed world hunger up sharply in 2020

World hunger shot up in both absolute and proportional terms in 2020, outpacing population growth, according to a report released Monday by five United Nations agencies. An estimated 9.9% or 811 million of all people were undernourished last year, up from 8.4 percent in 2019.
