A steel truss beam, lifted by two cranes, is installed onto slings of steel ropes over the Yangtze River in Chongqing on Nov 22, marking the start of the final phase of construction of the Guojiatuo Yangtze River Bridge. The 652-metric-ton steel truss beam is the largest and heaviest of its kind to be used on a bridge in the upper reaches of the Yangtze. The 1,403-meter bridge is scheduled to begin operations next October. [Photo provided to China Daily]
