Former Malaysian MP: China's democracy for the people

Democracy is a shared value for humanity, but not the monopoly of any specific country, Ong Tee Keat, chairman of the Center for New Inclusive Asia in Malaysia, told China Daily. Ong Tee Keat is a former member?of Parliament?and transport minister from Malaysia.
He said that because of their arrogance and prejudices, some Western countries have been turning a blind eye to the provision of consultation. But, he further said, democracy is not a Western monopoly meant to feed their narrow gains.
China, in contrast, remains focused on its own developments, he said. “While the world ushers in an era of multi-polarity, diversity of governance models across the ideological and cultural spectrum is anticipated and inevitable. This should be embraced with tolerance and inclusiveness,” he said.
