Shanghai reported two asymptomatic COVID-19 infections outside its quarantined population on Sunday, the city's health commission said at a press conference.

One case involved a 27-year-old woman living in the city's Changning district, who tested positive after a recent trip outside the city. The other case was a 12-year-old boy in Minhang district, who had a social encounter with a case reported on Oct 7.

All close and secondary contacts of the two cases have been quarantined, and nucleic acid tests are still ongoing. Results available as of press time were all negative.

The two neighborhoods where the two cases live and the venues they recently visited including a trampoline park in Minhang district were ranked as medium-risk zones.

Most districts in Shanghai have tightened pandemic control measures over the past few days as the city continued to register sporadic infections outside its quarantined population.
