Companies gear up sales of World Cup goods


Major companies involved with FIFA 2022 World Cup official merchandise in Guangdong province are making a concentrated effort to meet demand for soccer goods related to the tournament.
A global promotional event will kick off in Qatar next month.
In addition to World Cup trophy replicas, many Guangdong companies are now sparing no effort to produce grandstand seats, LED large screens, LED TV studios, smart transportation equipment and related products for World Cup greening projects, authorities said.
The number of companies that have official authorization to produce goods for the upcoming 2022 World Cup demonstrate the international competitiveness of sports manufacturing enterprises in Guangdong province, one of the major production bases in the world, insiders said.
Workers from Dongguan Wagon Giftware Co have been working overtime in recent days, said Huang Yumin, manager of the company's international business department.
In addition to the trophy replicas, Huang's company produces World Cup souvenirs, including decorative items and a series of keychains, she said.
To ensure product quality, Huang said, her company many supervisors for quality control to ensure that only high-grade products are manufactured.
"We are now working at full capacity to ensure that the products are shipped on schedule," Huang added.
Foshan Greenworld Nursery Co, which obtained the supply qualification for World Cup greening projects, has started shipping batches of seedlings and trees to Qatar after passing inspection and quarantine by local customs officers earlier year.
The company received orders for seedlings and trees for shipment to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup greening projects in the Middle Eastern nation over the previous year.
Those shipped to Qatar mainly include seven or eight varieties that not only have strong vitality and high temperature and drought resistance but also have large crowns and beautiful flowers, an executive from the company said.
The FIFA 2022 Qatar World Cup, kicks off on Nov 21 and will run until Dec 18. Thirty-two teams from around the world will compete for the trophy in 64 matches. It will be the first time the event has been hosted by a country in the Middle East.
