An inspiring female rider who helped battle a wildfire in Chongqing last summer and impressed people with a red bowknot on her helmet tied the knot on Tuesday, Valentine's Day, CCTV News reported.

Wu Puhui, the "bowknot rider", and her boyfriend Li Youlin registered their marriage at the civil affairs bureau of Bishan district in Chongqing on Tuesday morning.

The newly-weds revealed that the experience of volunteering together during the wildfire in August deepened their relationship.

Motorcycles became the ideal transport option as the paths on the Jinyun Mountain, where the fire broke out, were virtually impassable for vehicles. Wu, an experienced motocross rider, did not hesitate to volunteer after learning that motorcyclists were needed.

She rode up and down the mountain, transporting supplies and sometimes firefighters and rescuers, to the front line for five consecutive days. The red bowknot on her helmet made her stand out in the rescue team. Her boyfriend Li, who just got his motorcycle driver's license, joined her in volunteering his service during his off hours from the second day.

"We worked together for several days on the site. He was brave and determined. I sensed he was a responsible person and felt he was my 'Mr. Right'," Wu recounted.

Li said Wu is always full of energy and can easily infect him with her positivity. During the wildfire, she showed great selflessness and fortitude and he was more convinced than ever that she was the one.

Wu has joined the Chongqing Blue Sky Rescue Team and continues to participate in volunteer activities. Her boyfriend has provided her with understanding and support.

To help post-fire vegetation recovery of the Jinyun Mountain, Wu set up a WeChat group planning to plant trees on the mountain in the spring and more than 400 people have signed up.

The couple said they will start wedding preparations soon. Many netizens sent well-wishes to the kind-hearted couple.
