Thirteen soldiers from a brigade of the People's Liberation Army Ground Force recently received a pennant from their army comrade Xu Yucheng for their donation of blood platelets to his young daughter, CCTV News reported.

About six months ago, Xu's daughter Xiao Yingying (pseudonym) was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when she was over one-year-old. Four bone marrow punctures, 7 lumbar punctures, 6 rounds of chemotherapy and more than 90 blood routine tests … The treatment Xiao Yingying underwent over the past six months was a nightmare for her and her family.

After learning about Xiao Yingying's illness, soldiers in Xu's brigade launched a blood donation campaign to help the little girl battle the disease. And 13 of them were found to be compatible and donated platelets one after another to help Xiao Yingying pull through.

With their help, Xiao Yingying's illness has been brought under control and she has grown into a cheerful girl. The happiest thing for her is spending a few days at home after undergoing a course of chemotherapy.

For Xu, every blood donation from his comrades is a transmission of love and brings new hope for his daughter.

"There is blood from my 13 comrades flowing in my daughter's body," Xu said. He presented the pennant to the soldiers to express his gratitude.

The soldiers were very concerned about Xiao Yingying's condition and said they are always ready to make another platelet donation if there is a need.
