As of Thursday at noon, the Chengdu FISU World University Games was half finished, and five of the 18 events - archery, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, shooting and martial arts - have been completed, said Liu Guorong, full-time deputy director of the sports competition department of the Executive Committee of the Chengdu FISU World University Games.
Liu made the remarks at a news conference held on Thursday afternoon.
Competitions in 12 sports including track and field, gymnastics, badminton and basketball are currently in full swing, and the competitions in rowing, the last sport, will start on Friday.
By Wednesday evening, a total of 382 medals had been awarded, including 111 gold, 112 silver and 159 bronze. The Chinese delegation won 36 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 12 bronze medals, ranking first in the medal table at that time.
Since the start of the games, four FISU records were broken — all in swimming events, Liu said.
