In the middle of a huge desert some 50 kilometers from downtown AbuDhabi sits a vast array of solar panels, made and constructed by Chinese companies. The 2GW Al Dhafra PV2 (photovoltaic) solar power plant, one of the major green energy projects underway in countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, is testimony to the UAE's energy transition and to China's contribution to reducing global carbon emissions using its renewable technologies and expertise amid the worsening climate crisis.
