Xi greets Cambodia on 70th anniversary of independence
President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia on Thursday on the nation's 70th anniversary of independence, saying that China will, as always, firmly support the Southeast Asian country in maintaining stability, promoting development and improving people's livelihoods.
Xi said the Cambodian people have been committed to pursuing a development path suited to their national conditions and continuously made new achievements in their national development.
This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Cambodia diplomatic relations and the Year of China-Cambodia Friendship.
Xi recalled that he and King Sihamoni had met this year in Beijing and Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, to draw up the blueprint for building a China-Cambodia community with a shared future.
In the message, Xi said that he highly values developing China's relationship with the traditional friendly neighboring country.
He also expressed his willingness to work with King Sihamoni to strengthen the strategic guidance of bilateral ties and jointly build a high-quality, high-level and high-standard China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era.
On the same day, Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, sent a congratulatory message to Hun Sen, president of the Cambodian People's Party.
