International students learn about desert control in Ningxia

On Friday, a group of international students from Ningxia Medical University traveled to Baiji Beach Park in Lingwu, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, to learn about China's experience in desertification control. While there, they hiked through the desert, learned to make straw grids, and made sand bottle paintings, among other activities.
Richard Djurist Ngenzi, a postgraduate student from Tanzania, said, "Hiking in the desert made me deeply realize its harsh environment and made me admire those who are dedicated to improving this land even more. Through learning to make straw grids, I learned how to prevent desertification. If needed, when I return home, I am willing to share my experience."
Negin Jafarli, a student from Iran, expressed admiration after the experience. "In Iran, I have heard of China's 'Green Great Wall', but it wasn't until I came here and personally participated in making straw grids that I truly understood the challenges and perseverance behind this great project."
