A reading dialogue themed "The Power of Reading" was held at Beijing Foreign Studies University on April 21 to mark the 30th World Book Day that falls on April 23.

Wang Jiawu, former chief engineer of Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, shared his insights into reading at the event.?

Born in a small mountain town in Anhui, Wang grew up studying under starlight, dreaming of the cosmos. In 1984, he began his career at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, dedicating his life to China’s aerospace industry.

Reflecting on his journey, Wang explains that in aerospace, reading comes in two forms: extensive reading—to absorb knowledge across a wide range of subjects, and intensive reading—to carefully scrutinize every technical document, from operational manuals to contingency plans.
