The third season of the immersive mystery-solving show The Truth recently premiered on Tencent Video.

The show features a star-studded cast, including actors Bai Yu, Liu Yuning and Zhang Linghe, as well as actresses Dilraba Dilmurat and Jin Jing, who engage in a role-playing game where they must solve murder cases by analyzing clues and deciphering scripts. Throughout the season, they will assume different identities and unravel five major mysteries.

Producer Xin Ling shared the show's highlights with three key elements, namely, immersive cinematic storytelling, urban fables and human depth.

"A mystery variety show is 50 percent story and 50 percent people. Only when these two aspects complement each other can the show deliver a truly compelling viewing experience," she said.

This season, she noted, has achieved an "all-around upgrade centered on human dynamics" — thanks to new cast members, the return of interactive evidence collection, a faster-paced narrative approach, more refined editing, and emotionally resonant cases.

She hoped the show, by exploring social issues, will "leave the audience with more than just laughter — but also lingering warmth and food for thought".
