Zero casualties recorded in aftermath of 5.0 earthquake in Yunnan


A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck Eryuan county, Dali Bai autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province at 4:31 am on Thursday, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
So far, no casualties have been reported, according to the local authorities.
Yang Yong, a resident from Lijiang, said he was awakened by an earthquake alert from his phone at 4 am.
Zhao Zhumei, a resident of Eryuan, said since the epicenter was some distance away, she did not anticipate a strong quake. However, when she woke up, her phone was filled with posts and videos showing the intensity of the earthquake.

Shortly after, the prefecture activated the Level III emergency response. Eryuan dispatched a leading team of one vehicle and five personnel to the epicenter for assessment.
Meanwhile, the rest of the brigade in Dali conducted emergency drills and prepared for potential rescue operations. As of now, all 195 personnel in the brigade are on standby for emergency deployment.
