The Shijiazhuang International Land Port in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei province, demonstrated strong growth in its China-Europe freight train operations during the first five months of this year.

From January to May, the port dispatched 521 China-Europe and China-Asia freight trains, carrying 52,373 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of cargo, according to data provided by the port.

The total goods transported weighed approximately 639,700 metric tons and were valued at 5.57 billion yuan ($777.5 million).

These figures represent year-on-year increases exceeding 90 percent across all metrics, solidifying the port's position as the busiest of its kind in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, said Liu Jinpeng, general manager of the port.

Illustrating this momentum, a train laden with auto parts, bicycles, and mechanical equipment departed for Moscow, Russia, on Monday. It is expected to arrive in 12 days.

"We now operate an average of three to four such trains daily," Liu said.

He added that the port has established an extensive logistics network with 18 international routes reaching over 50 countries and regions across Eurasia.

Its integrated sea-rail services connect to major global ports, fulfilling its "one port, global reach" mission. "This expanding network provides crucial infrastructure for international trade and cooperation," Liu said.
