Top court establishes special department to protect lawyers' rights
The Supreme People's Court has established a specialized department to engage with lawyers and enhance their protection, marking the first such initiative by China's top judiciary body.
In an announcement on Thursday, the top court explained that the newly established institution within its research office aims to further safeguard the legitimate rights of practicing lawyers, conduct in-depth research on judicial policies for lawyer protection, and collaborate with other authorities to enhance the legal framework surrounding lawyers, ultimately bolstering human rights protection.
Recent years have seen Chinese courts prioritize communication and collaboration with lawyers, implementing effective measures to ensure their lawful participation in legal proceedings and facilitating their professional duties, as stated by the top court.
