Five missing after landslide hit Sichuan

Five people were missing after a mountain landslide hit a village early Wednesday morning in Xuyong county, Luzhou, Sichuan province, the local emergency management bureau said.
The disaster occurred after heavy rainfall in Zhengdong township of Xuyong from 10 pm on Tuesday to 1 am on Wednesday, with maximum precipitation exceeding 150 millimeters within three hours, according to a post on the official WeChat account of Luzhou's emergency management bureau.
Debris from the landslide buried a residential house and its occupants.
To date, all 24 residents from 11 households near the landslide site have been evacuated to safety, the bureau said.
Search efforts are underway for the missing.
