Guizhou anti-corruption authorities have dismissed online claims that a former big data official mined 327 bitcoins on government servers, China Newsweek reported.

Social media posts alleged that Jing Yaping, the ousted former director of the provincial big data development authority, mined coins worth an estimated 150 million yuan ($20.91 million). Guizhou's discipline inspection commission and provincial commission of supervision said the claim is false and that the case does not involve bitcoin, according to the report.

Public records show Jing worked for many years in Guizhou's education system and was appointed director of the provincial big data administration in 2021. Officials said she was placed under investigation in February and was expelled from the Party and removed from public office in August for disciplinary violations and suspected bribery.
