Sino-Kyrgyz cooperation to expand

President Xi Jinping has called on China and Kyrgyzstan to break new ground while upholding fundamental principles to push for the in-depth development of practical cooperation.

He made the remarks on Sunday when meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in Tianjin.

Following their talks, the two sides signed bilateral cooperation documents covering areas such as connectivity, human resources and civil aviation.

Xi said that China stands ready to continue to firmly support Kyrgyzstan, strengthen the alignment of their development strategies, and work hand in hand on their respective paths toward modernization and national rejuvenation, in order to build a closer China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future.

Xi called for joint efforts to promote bilateral trade and investment, deepen connectivity, enhance development driven by science and technology, and expand collaboration in emerging sectors such as clean energy, green minerals and artificial intelligence.

He also underscored the importance of boosting exchanges in culture, tourism, education and healthcare to bring the people of the two countries closer.

China will fully support Kyrgyzstan as it takes over the rotating presidency of the SCO, Xi said, expressing Beijing's willingness to back Bishkek in playing a bigger role in regional and international affairs.

China will strengthen multilateral coordination with Kyrgyzstan to jointly safeguard the United Nations-centered international system and contribute to world peace and development, he added.

Japarov said that Kyrgyzstan is eager to learn from China's experience and deepen cooperation in connectivity, clean energy, AI and technological innovation.

He reaffirmed his country's firm support for China on issues concerning China's core interests, including the Taiwan question.
