The inclusion of Leung's contemporary creation alongside Brahms' classical masterpieces created an inspiring fusion of East and West, modern and traditional. It was a musical conversation, one that highlighted the innovative spirit of contemporary Chinese composers, while simultaneously paying tribute to the enduring legacy of Western classical music.

The evening continued with a deeply emotional performance by Komlósi, who took center stage to deliver Brahms' Alto Rhapsody, Op. 53. Composed in 1869 for alto solo, choir, and orchestra, the piece was inspired by Goethe's Harz Mountain Journey in Winter, and was dedicated to the daughter of Robert and Clara Schumann. Komlósi's rich, warm voice brought to life the profound poetry of Goethe, conveying a sense of wandering solitude and philosophical reflection in the desolate winter landscape.
