Juan Jin-song, former chairman of the Taipei Wild Bird Society, said the cross-Strait collaboration on bird protection has covered sharing environmental data, co-authoring bird breeding management manuals, alternating patrols on uninhabited islands, and crackdowns on egg poaching.

In April, Fuzhou launched a program to recruit bird surveyors from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan for scientific monitoring, bird surveys, and image documentation.

Chen Teng-chuang, a nature photographer from Matsu, has joined the survey team and frequently visits Fuzhou to photograph birds. "Some birds that are not afraid of humans have come close to my camera lens, allowing me to capture many exciting shots," he said.
