German life sciences company Bayer has introduced De Lai, a new umbrella brand of Crop Performance Enhancers (CPE) portfolio, in response to Chinese growers' growing demand for both higher yields and better quality.

The brand made its debut at the just-concluded 8th China International Import Expo in Shanghai, presenting a new approach to crop health solutions in China.

Li Yifan, head of the Customer Enabling Team at Bayer Crop Science Greater China, said: "As Chinese agriculture actively promotes the more efficient and sustainable use of fertilizers, farmers' demand and expectation for integrated crop nutrition and protection solutions continue to rise, indicating huge market potential for crop performance enhancers."

Experts noted that, in recent years, needs are diversifying — from balanced nutrition and stress tolerance to soil care — making integrated crop health solutions increasingly essential.

Data from the State Council showed that, by the end of 2024, China's agricultural acreage totaled 1.94 billion mu (129 million hectares), an increase of 28 million mu from the 2020 level.

The agricultural acreages in Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Henan, Jilin and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region all surpassed 100 million mu.
